my special luxury: the whole package
The Priory Barn, Wedding Venue Hertfordshire
Over the years I have had the enjoyment of attending 6 occasions at the Priory Barn, from weddings, wine tastings and dinner dances. I even had my wedding at the Priory and it is truly a magical place.
The Priory barn was built in 1541 by James Needham, the King’s carpenter. The barn is 100 feet long and 40 feet wide with nine bays on each side. Local oak cut down in the winter of 1540 was used in its construction. The huge trusses which support the weight of the enormous roof are of the Queen Post type with curved braces and jowelled posts to support them.
The Priory is a well established wedding venue where the special atmosphere of the barn and its surroundings provide a unique setting for a relaxed, informal wedding reception.
Their whole approach is to create a memorable day – your day. They do not have set menus; all of the menus are worked out with you to meet your particular requirements. The chef has extensive experience of catering for functions and has developed a number of signature dishes. In a formal arrangement it can seat 150 people at round tables in the barn and park up to 60 cars.
Over the years I have never once been disappointed with the service, the food and the staff.
The Priory is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies. The two locations for civil wedding ceremonies – the gazebo for Summer weddings (weather permitting) and the barn.
