Whether for business or leisure, traveling to exotic locations and enjoying every moment at a home away from home, if not better, is everyone’s, or at least my, desire. In the South East of Asia, I like the Philippines and it is one place worth giving a try if you are interested in visiting Asia. There are over 25 hotels in the Philippines that offer 5 star accommodation all of which leave you in awe of the hospitality offered here.
Amanpulo Pamalican Island
If you want to live like a king, then Amanpulo is the place to be .It is set on a private island and is accessible by a private charter flight. It is has a three hundred meter coral reef from the shore and is surrounded by turquoise waters and therefore offering various water sports.
This includes kingly amenities like a king-size bed and a large bathroom with separate shower and bath. Combine that with the amazing treetop views and the beach club for a sunset cocktail or an evening barbeque and the amazing local Philippine or international cuisine and you get a lovely package.
Discovery shores Boracay Island
A butterfly fly shaped Island that is lined with palm trees on its shallow white-sand shores, that is the beauty to behold at this amazing Island. There are among 88 spacious and luxurious accommodations to choose from.
These include; 1 / 2 bedroom suites, junior suites and two bedroom suite premier. The rooms are all spacious and some have a Jacuzzi with most of them offering a view of the beach, swimming pool or the waterfalls.
Shangri La Boracay Resort and Spa
The resort has a number of restaurants and numerous leisure facilities that include a Spa village. The resort is set up on a lovely hillside within an eco-reserve and has some of the most beautiful secluded beaches and expansive grounds. It has 36 villas and 183 guestrooms.
These come with outdoor living quarters with ocean views from the porches and balconies.
Built in 1969, the hotel has 332 rooms and 58 suits and is the country’s longest operating international chain hotel. The hotel is close to both domestic and international airports and this gives it an edge to tourists who are on tight time schedule. Though build in the 60′s to early 70′s, the hotel was renovated in 2006 and therefore has ultra-modern facilities.
This is combined with the hotel’s legacy where one enjoys the best of local and / or international cuisine that is prepared by world class chefs.
Edsa Shangri-La Manila
The hotel was built in 1992 and was later remodeled in 2006. Situated in Mandaluyong City at the Ortigas Centre, the hotel is the only 5 star city resort deluxe convention hotel in Manila. The hotel is strategically placed between two shopping complexes, and a few minutes’ drive from Manila International Airport and the Makati Central Business district.
It has four international restaurants and a Spa to give guests a lovely time in Manila.
Driving in the Philipines
Despite the very chaotic driving culture in the Philippines, it’s good to know that there are significantly few rates of driving-related accidents in the country compared to its Asian neighbors.
Unlike other Asian countries, the Philippines drive on the right hand side of the road, so brush up on your basic driving skills:
- Never use hi-beam unless necessary
- Adjust according to speed limits
- Put a safe distance between your car and the one before you
- Check your rearview/side mirror before changing lanes
- Use proper turn signals at the right time
Philippines is a lovely country with lots of views and sights to behold and I find it is always advisable to Book practical driving test to help a driver know how good they are to drive themselves around as the beauty unfolds every minute of every mile covered.
